World Leading Clearance Systems Now Have a Name: CapaciSenseTM
Many of the worlds leading developers of power generation turbines have used our systems for design verification of blade tip to shroud clearances at high temperatures, supplanting the older rubbing techniques.
These systems were developed by Pyrotenax in the 1990’s when we were part of BICC Thermoheat. Now part of Tyco Thermal Controls, greater focus on this system has allowed rapid development of probes, electronics & services. With those advances comes an new name: CapaciSenseTM. The name was chosen to represent the technology Capacitance - and what it does Sense distance in the extreme environment of a gas turbine.
Designers who have used our capacitive probe based systems are now confident that they can be used longer term for monitoring the condition of the blade clearances or even using the outputs to adjust those clearances on working turbines to improve fuel efficiences.
FM systems are suitable for non contact capacitive proximity measurement of fan blade tip gaps for both power generation and aerospace turbines.
AM systems are suitable for measuring gaps on continuous surfaces such as rotors or shafts of turbo machinery or in other high temperature applications such as glass or steelmaking;
We can design a system for your turbines see here for further information and contact details.
